Almost half of all Canadians will experience a legal problem over the course of a three-year period. It’s a startling statistic – and one we’re going to unpack on today’s episode focusing on legal aid across the country. So, what can be done about the lack of stable, sustainable funding? Our guest today, lawyer John Gillis, is going to talk about the CBA’s #LegalAidMatters campaign which launched this summer.
John is the Chair of the CBA’s Access to Justice Subcommittee and CEO at his firm Gilbert McGloan Gillis in Saint John New Brunswick. He’s the founder of a free legal clinic there and in 2018 he won the CBA’s Pro Bono and Volunteer Service Award.
